Wine Director Ernani Silva, a certified sommelier, discovered his passion for wine by way of a successful career in finance.  Silva furthered his wine education by immersing himself in books, taking sommelier classes, and traveling throughout Europe and South America.  Presently, he is enrolled in studies with the Court of Master Sommeliers from London.   In 1999, he took a position as a wine distributor at Tri-Vin Imports, Inc., where he oversaw accounts including Morrell’s, 67 Wines, and Zachy’s Wine and Spirits.  Additionally, he began creating wine lists for New York City restaurants, as well as Trotters in White Plains.

When Trotters chef/owner Anthony Goncalves invited Silva to work the floor selling wine on weekends, the restaurant’s wine revenue increased exponentially, and the list Silva created was recognized by both Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast.  At 42, Silva collaborates with Goncalves creating a diversified wine list that compliments 42′s Contemporary New American cuisine.
